Star Alliance announced that it will add Avianca Brazil to its network in 2014.  In addition, the alliance also announced it restarted its integration process with Air India.

The alliance extended its membership with Avianca, Colombia’s national flag carrier, to include Avianca Brazil, the airline’s partner.  Avianca Brazil, Star Alliance, and Star Alliance member carriers serving Brazil will begin working on expanding Avianca Brazil’s network to connect with other Star Alliance airline destinations.

Air India, the national flag carrier of India, was originally accepted as a future member of Star Alliance in 2007.  The integration process was halted in July 2011 to allow the carrier to focus on its merger with Indian Airlines, but has since been restarted.

Star Alliance was established in 1997, and offers more than 21,900 daily flights to 195 countries.
