American Airlines A321T First Class

The first-class cabin has ten fully lie-flat seats in a 1-1 configuration with an extra-wide aisle. The suite-like seats  offer numerous features and a lot of privacy.

Each first-class seat is 21” wide (not including the armrests, which can be lowered, making it 27” wide) and the fully-extended bed is 82.5”, longer than on the new Flagship Suite seats on American’s 777-300ER. There is a small ottoman, not really suitable for guests, that becomes part of the bed.

The seats are upholstered in a comfortable combination of cloth and leather, both with a very soft and luxurious feel.  Wood grain is evident throughout.

The amount of privacy, because each seat is by itself, is unparalleled in a commercial jetliner today.

First-class passengers get a small LCD tablet controls in-flight entertainment, reading light functions, and the flight attendant call button.  It can be used to view the moving map and also can navigate the dining and video options.  A separate panel controls the seat (there are preset positions such as “bed” as well as general controls for infinite adjustment).

Storage has been greatly enhanced.  In addition to the large overhead bins (each passenger gets a minimum of one bin), the new first-class seat has multiple open compartments for storage. There is also room under the ottoman for a bag

A 15.4” touchscreen display at the seat can be tilted for optimal viewing. The in-flight entertainment system offers 200 movies, 180 television programs, 20 games, and over 350 music tracks.  Each seat also provides a universal AC power outlet and a USB jack.

American Airlines A321T Business Class

The new business-class cabin on the A321T has 20 seats in a 2-2 configuration, just like in first class on some airlines.  Each seat is pitched at 58” (previously, the business-class pitch was 50”) and is 18.5”-19.5” wide, depending on seat location. The bed itself is a true 180º lie-flat bed that extends to 78” (some seats are 75”) and all seats are oriented towards the window. A very small ottoman (not really suitable for visitor seating, however) becomes part of the bed.

Similar to first class, each seat provides a USB port for charging and an AC power outlet for other small appliances. For in-flight entertainment, each seat has a 15.4” monitor with entertainment options that are the same as in first class.
