IRobot announced its next-generation robotic vacuum cleaner, the Roomba 880.

The new model introduces AeroForce Extractors, which increase suction and help remove up to 50% more unwanted particles.  The extractors are part of iRobot’s new AeroForce Performance Cleaning System, which also includes a brushless high-efficiency vacuum. The new XLife battery delivers twice the amount of cleaning cycles over the robot’s life than what previous generation Roombas had.

The Roomba uses a five times more powerful vacuum than previous models, and its bin can hold 60% more dirt.

The new model also carries over numerous features from previous models, including the Dirt Detect Series 2, which finds dirt and debris and allots extra cleaning to where it is most needed, and Virtual Walls, which fence in the Roomba.  The device also allows users to schedule cleaning for specific times, up to seven times a week.
