LOT has introduced its first-ever premium economy cabin on the Dreamliner and it looks promising.  It’s a separate, fairly intimate cabin, with 21 seats arranged in a 2-3-2 layout.

Each seat is 19.5” wide and has a pitch of 38”.  The seat itself reclines to 132º and has a footrest, leg support, and adjustable headrest.

The premium-economy section is more generous in terms of room compared to what  Star Alliance partner United Airlines has on its 787s, which have seats in a 3-3-3 configuration pitched at 35-36” with a seat width of 18”.

Passengers will find a 10.6” monitor for the in-flight entertainment system in the seat console/armrest. Each seat also has its own power outlet and USB port.

In the economy cabin, each row has nine seats arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration.  Each seat is 16.9” wide and pitch is 32”.

The configuration allows LOT to get one additional seat in each row and is similar to what United has in coach, also a 3-3-3 layout, but less spacious than launch customer and Star Alliance partner ANA’s 787s, which have eight seats per row in a 2-4-2 configuration with 18.6” seats pitched at 32”.

Each passenger has his own seatback video screen and each row has a USB port and power outlet.

LOT Dreamliner: Other Amenities

The pivoting overhead bins are very easy to open and move to make it easier to place one’s bags inside.  It is possible to move items in and out of a bin without stepping into the aisle. When open, the bins are a bit low so head-bumping remains a possibility.

The lavatories are innovative as well. The toilet has a touchless flush sensor and the faucets are sensor equipped as well.  The sound that the toilet makes is far less aggressive than what on typically hears in a lav.
