Mobile service provider iPass announced the launch of iPass Hotspot Finder. The hotspot finder is browser-based and can be accessed from smartphones or personal computers.

Using location services, the iPass Hotspot Finder displays all of the hotspots within a specified radius, and pins their exact location on a map. The service identified 704 hotspots in New York City, 60 of which were in hotels and 11 of which were located at nearby airports.

Clicking on the pin for a hotspot will provide information about the venue supplying the Internet connectivity, such as a specific address, hours of operation, and the Wi-Fi network name.

The iPass Hotspot Finder is free to use, although using the Wi-Fi networks requires a paid account. Individual plans start at ten cents a minute in North America. Subscribers have access to over 1.4 million iPass or affiliated hotspots worldwide, including Gogo in-flight Internet.
