MUNICH—Now that BMW has finally brought the new 4 Series coupe onto the market, the Bavarian automaker is showing off the BMW Concept M4 Coupe, which should become available next summer as a production model. The 4 Series is the new name for the storied 3 Series coupe as well as for the cabriolet model. The 3 Series moniker remains with the sedan and wagon.

The BMW Concept M4 Coupe provides a first glimpse at the newest BMW M cars, the M3 and the M4.
The BMW M4 will feature a powertrain design that has powered countless BMWs but will nonetheless be a first for an M3 or M4: a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six. The engine’s peak torque is 369 pound-feet with a maximum power output of 430 hp. Although the peak torque of the engine has increased by roughly 30% compared to previous generation Ms, the fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced by 25%, thanks to the vehicle’s lighter weight .
The BMW Concept M4 Coupe is finished in “Aurum Dust,” a color developed exclusively for this model, and is the embodiment of BMW M’s current design language, with a dynamic front end and an equally sporty rear
The world premiere of the production version of the BMW M4 Coupe is scheduled to take place at the North American International Motor Show in Detroit, Michigan in January 2014.
