Aircell announced Gogo Vision and the Gogo Cloud, two new in-flight entertainment services, on Monday.

Gogo Vision is an on-demand in-flight entertainment and information service designed for the business aviation market.  It offers a constantly-rotating library of movies and television shows plus news, flight information, and weather information.   Gogo Vision uses an on-board server and streams information to tablets and laptop computers using Wi-Fi.

Aircell has distribution and licensing arrangements with numerous content producers including Magnolia Pictures, NBC Universal, Twentieth Century Fox, and Warner Brothers that allow for access to the latest films and television episodes.

Gogo Cloud is the company’s new content delivery network that works in conjunction with Gogo Vision.  The new service allows Gogo Vision-enabled aircraft to automatically receive updated content when attached to the Gogo Cloud.  When an aircraft is within range of the Gogo Cloud, the Vision system automatically connects to it via Wi-Fi and does a complete update, without any human intervention, at speeds that allow a feature-length movie to be transferred in three minutes.
