Air France celebrated its 80th Anniversary on October 7, 2013. Commemorating the anniversary, the airline is beginning a year-long celebration that will include numerous events for the carrier’s staff and customers.

As part of the festivities, “The sky, our passion,” exhibition was inaugurated at the carrier’s head office in France. The exhibition will later go on tour with airline.

In addition, Air France has outfitted one of its Airbus A380 aircraft with an 80th anniversary logo. Shortly, the carrier will outfit an Airbus A320 aircraft with the same livery, and the two aircraft will keep the special livery for a year.

In the airline’s in-flight publication, Air France Magazine, a special October issue will retrace the 80 years of the company’s past, from 1933 through the present day. The magazine features an article on the airline’s cultural history, a timeline of its posters, a section dedicated to the various artists who have contributed to and helped with the airline’s decorations and colors, information on its uniforms, and a history of the carrier’s lounges, ticket offices, and more.

The magazine will also include an exclusive short story by David Foenkinos, a French author and screenwriter. Every month this year, a noted writer will publish a short story for the magazine on the theme of travel, and a collection of the stories will be published next fall.

Additionally, several products will be customized in the 80th anniversary colors and offered to passengers. These include paper menus, hot towels, amenity kits, cups, in-flight entertainment, and more.
