InterContinental Hotels Group announced it will open The InterContinental London the O2 in 2015.  The hotel will be the third InterContinental property in the city, along with the InterContinental London Westminster and the InterContinental London Park.

The hotel will have 452 rooms, and will be located in close proximity to the North Greenwich tube station.  The property will be six miles from the London City Airport, and will be located directly adjacent to the O2 Arena, which hosts nearly 200 events annually.

The hotel will offer various restaurants, as well as a health spa, club lounge, main bar, and sky bar.  The property will also have a 32,291 square foot (3,000 square meter) hotel ballroom, the largest pillar-free ballroom in Europe.

Earlier this year, InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of the Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Convention Center.
