British Airways to Debut Airbus A380 on London-Los Angeles Route
British Airways announced it will launch its first Airbus A380 flight today, September 24, on its service from London to Los Angeles. The aircraft is scheduled to depart London Heathrow at 4:15 p.m. and land at Los Angeles International Airport at 7:15 p.m.
The airline’s A380 is outfitted with 469 seats in four cabins, including 14 in first class, 97 in business class (Club World), 55 in premium economy (World Traveler Plus), and 303 in economy (World Traveler). Seats in first class have a pitch of 78”, and are 21” wide.
In addition, seats in business class will be lie-flat in a 2-3-2 configuration on the upper deck. The entertainment system will provide 1,600 hours of programming, including 130 movies and 650 TV shows, and the aircraft will have a complimentary bar, three course meals, amenity kits, and blankets for each passenger.
British Airways’ A380s also feature a new menu designed by The Langham, London, for passengers in first and business class. The menu includes a five course tasting menu and afternoon tea.
British Airways has ordered 12 Airbus A380s. Earlier this month, the airline began new Boeing 787 Dreamliner service between London and Toronto.
