Bentley Debuts Continental GT V8 S Models
Bentley Motors announced it will add two GT V8 S models, a coupe and a convertible, to its Continental line. The new models will be unveiled at the Frankfurt show on September 10.
The two Continental V8 S models will be powered by an upgraded version of Bentley’s high-efficiency 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 521 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. The engines peak at 502 pound-feet (680 Nm) of torque at just 1,700 revolutions per minute.
With a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h), the GT V8 S coupe takes only 4.3 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h). The convertible model achieves nearly identical results with a top speed of 191 mph (309 km/h), and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) speed of 4.5 seconds.
Both models will feature a lowered, retuned sports suspension, tighter, sportier steering, and the exterior will be detailed with S-specific design cues.
Bentley says that the coupe will be capable of a combined fuel economy rating of 26.8 mpg (10.6 l/100km) and the convertible, 25.9 mpg (10.9 l/100km), although these figures are subject to final testing and regulatory approval. Both models should be able to operate over 500 miles (805 km) between refueling stops.
The new Continental GT V8 S models will start shipping in early 2014.
