The State Department issued a world-wide travel alert, warning travelers of a potential Al Qaeda attack.

While there is no specific information available regarding a date or target, intelligence suggests an attack timeframe of the month of August in the Middle East or North Africa.

Travelers are advised to exercise caution due the potential threat, especially in tourist areas.

The alert follows the order to close many U.S. diplomatic facilities in the region this Sunday.  It will remain in effect through August 31.
