Cathay Pacific to Add Service Between Newark, Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific announced plans to offer new daily service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport starting in early 2014. The flight is in addition to the airline’s four daily flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Hong Kong.
The new service, which will commence on March 1, 2014, will operate using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The three-class aircraft are equipped with 40 lie-flat seats in business class, 32 seats in Premium Economy, and 268 seats in economy class. Seats in business class are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, all with direct-aisle access. The lie-flat seats have a width of 36” and an overall length of 81”.
Flights will depart from Newark at 1:15 a.m. and arrive in Hong Kong at 6:00 a.m. Flights from Hong Kong to Newark will depart at 6:20 p.m. and arrive at 9:00 p.m. The hours of operation will be adjusted after Daylight Saving Time.
Newark will become the carrier’s fifth destination in the U.S., and the seventh in North America. Currently, the airline serves Chicago, Los Angeles, New York’s JFK, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver.
