SkyTeam announced it will be making improvements to the benefits it offers elite members of member airlines’ frequent flyer programs across the alliance. SkyTeam also announced that Garuda Indonesia will become its newest member in March of next year.

Among the enhancements are the implementation of SkyPriority services at each of SkyTeam’s 1,000 destinations that don’t yet have it by the end of this year.  In addition, SkyPriority is being expanded to include dedicated security lanes, SkyPriority call centers to provide support for customers, and SkyPriority baggage desks at arrival halls.

The airline alliance will also open three additional SkyPort lounges by early 2014, namely in Istanbul, Sydney, and Beijing.

SkyTeam will also add a booking feature to the online Round the World planning application before the end of this year.

In addition, Garuda Indonesia will join SkyTeam in March of next year.  The national flag carrier of Indonesia will be the 20th member of the alliance, and the second from Southeast Asia.
