Alaska Airlines announced new, nonstop service between San Diego and Lihue, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, on Friday. The service will operate daily through August 26, after which it will be offered four times a week.

The new service will operate using Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with 16 seats in first class, and 141 in economy. In first class, the seats have a pitch of 36 inches, and are 21 inches wide.

Starting June 9, flights from San Diego to Kauai will depart at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at 1:10 p.m, local time.  Flights on June 7 and 8 are operating on a slightly different timetable.  After August 26, flights from San Diego will depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

From Kauai, flights will depart at 11:10 a.m. and arrive in San Diego at 7:30 p.m.  Flights to San Diego will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays after August 26.

From San Diego, Alaska Airlines also flies nonstop to Honolulu and Maui.
