W Hotels Reveals Renovations to W New York – Union Square
Starwood said it has completed a major renovation project at the W New York – Union Square. The work is part of the company’s $100 million commitment to renovating over 11 of its properties across North America.
The hotel’s 270 guestrooms and suites now have a sculptural headboard that represents an abstract view of Union Square. The walls of the rooms are painted white and bohemian metallic blue.
The hotel’s W Living Room now has expanded seating areas that use contrasting patterns and textures. The area has custom window seating in houndstooth chairs, a u-shaped chesterfield sofa in embossed black paisley leather, and a tufted sofa in electric blue crocodile.
The ceiling has a beaded chain installation, and there is a black steel communal table with outlets for charging. The living room also has traditional lanterns and urns, some of which are available for purchase for a limited time.
The hotel’s bar, Lilium, and its restaurant, Olives New York, were also redesigned in the course of the renovation. The bar has a twisted metal ceiling , as well as contoured wood and gold-tone accents. The restaurant has new seating choices, including u-shaped banquettes, an elevated chef’s table, and a nine-seat raw bar along the open kitchen, while the design elements combine textures and materials such as dark woods and blackened steel.
