Southwest Airlines to Launch New Houston-Washington, D.C. Service

Southwest Airlines announced it will launch new service between Houston and Washington, D.C. on August 4, 2013.  Initially, the airline will operate one daily flight to and from the cities.

In celebration of the new service, Southwest is offering one-way fares for $149 through May 24, for travel between August 4 and November 1, 2013.  Travel is valid only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

The new service will operate between Houston-Hobby Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

In addition, Southwest is also offering its Rapid Rewards Select Route Double Points promotion.  Rapid Rewards members must register for the promotion and book flights between now and August 31, for travel between Houston Hobby and Boston’s Logan International Airport, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and Providence’s T.F. Green Airport, or between June 16 and August 31 for travel between Houston Hobby and New York’s LaGuardia.  Travel must be completed between June 16 and August 31, and members will receive 12 bonus points per dollar spent on business Select fares, ten bonus points per dollar spent on Anytime fares, and six bonus points per dollar spent on Wanna Get Away fares.
