Starwood announced the opening of the W Guangzhou hotel in Guangzhou, China.  Situated on the Pearl River, the hotel is the first W property located in mainland China, and the 44th worldwide.

The hotel has 317 guestrooms and suites, each with iPod docking stations, Blu-ray players, 46-inch LCD TVs, satellite, and safes.  The rooms also have floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-in closets, while the bathrooms feature rainforest showerheads, separate bath and shower stalls, and a telephone.

The property also includes three restaurants: Yan Yu, I by Inagiku, and the Kitchen Table.  Yan Yu offers Cantonese dining for lunch and dinner, I by Inagiku has a menu featuring Japanese cuisine in an indoor or outdoor setting, and the Kitchen Table serves local and international items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The hotel also has two nightlife venues, WOOBAR and Fei Ultraloounge, both with in-house DJs.

The W Guangzhou also features China’s first Away spa, which combines and infuses both eastern and western spa elements.  The hotel also has a fitness center and heated indoor pool.

For conferences and events, the hotel has over 2,000 square feet (185 square meters) of meeting and event space, as well as a 24-hour business center.

Starwood has plans to expand the presence of its W brand in Asia by more than double over the next five years.  The W Guangzhou is one of eleven W properties that will be located in Asia Pacific.
