Etihad Airways announced the opening of its new premium lounge at in Terminal A at Dulles International Airport.  The lounge, open to the airline’s first- and business-class passengers, offers direct access to the aircraft for boarding without having to exit the lounge and walk over to the gate, a feature offered by very few airlines and airports.

Lounge amenities include a business center equipped with Apple desktop computers and Wi-Fi, a family room designed especially for children with books, toys, and television, a relaxation area intended for quiet reading, showers, and prayer rooms.  The lounge, which is on two levels, offers a buffet as well as à la carte dining

In addition to the new lounge, Etihad currently has lounges in Dubai, Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Manchester, and Paris.  The airline plans to open lounges in Melbourne, New York, and Sydney although no timeframe for these has been provided.

Etihad started to offer non-stop flights between Washington, D.C. and Abu Dhabi on March 31.
