Capella Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of the Capella Washington D.C., Georgetown.  The hotel is located in the city’s historic Georgetown neighborhood.

The new luxury property has 49 guestrooms and suites, each meant to resemble private residences.  Each room has pewter and gold tones incorporated into them, as well as plush furniture and complimentary wireless Internet access.

The hotel makes Capella Personal Assistants available to guests 24 hours.  The hotel has done away with the traditional roles of front desk clerk and concierge and the personal assistants are a kind of hybrid of both, available for routine hotel tasks such as checking in as well as to make appointments and reservations for guests.  The hotel also offers a complimentary refreshment center and laundry pressing service.

The property has two signature restaurants, the Grill Room and the Rye Bar, each headed by Swedish chef Jakob Esko.  The Grill Room’s menu includes bone-in artisanal meats and fresh seafood, while the Rye Bar features rare rye whiskeys, cocktails, and a specialty bar menu.

The property also has a rooftop pool and 24-hour fitness center.  In addition, it also offers guests special access to private, after-hours shopping in Georgetown.

Over the next two years, Capella Hotels and Resorts plans to open properties in Sochi, Russia; Riviera Maya, Mexico; and Bangkok, Thailand.
