The somewhat notorious Boeing 787 Dreamliner, grounded worldwide on January 16, 2013, is a long-range, wide-body, twin-engine jet airplane that can seat between 210 and 290 passengers, depending on how an airline configures the cabin.  It is the world’s first aircraft to use composite materials for most of its construction, which makes it lighter and far more resistant to corrosion than its predecessors.

Now that the FAA has greenlighted Boeing’s plan to redesign the aircraft’s high-tech battery system, the 787 will be able to return to regular passenger service starting perhaps as early as the end of this month.
