The partnership between Audi and T-Mobile is engendering the launch of a new, inexpensive vehicle specific data package.  The plan, available to Audi owners, will be offered for $15 a month with a long-term commitment.

Subscribers to the new plan will have access to up-to-date news stories, current weather and fuel prices, and Google services such as Earth and Voice commands, all on the car’s dashboard screen.  But the service isn’t limited to just these features; the system also acts as a hotspot, supporing up to eight devices via Wi-Fi, providing they are in close enough proximity to the vehicle.   Audi notes that, for safety reasons, only passengers of the car should utilize this option; drivers should continue to rely on voice services and the dashboard interface.

The plan is available for new and existing cars equipped with Audi connect and new Audis come with a six-month free trial of the service.  Thirty months of connectivity will cost Audi owners $450 (equal to $15 a month), or one can opt for a month-to-month option at twice the cost ($30 a month).
