AA Revamps AAdvantage Program Benefits, Adds Four Milestones with Cumulative Elite Rewards
American Airlines announced a major change to its AAdvantage program with the addition of additional milestones for members and new benefits and rewards as part of its Elite Rewards program
In addition to the standard Gold, Platinum, and Executive Platinum tiers and the benefits of each, American has added four additional milestones at 40,000, 75,000, 125,000, and 150,000 miles.
Gold, Platinum, and Executive Platinum require 25,000 miles or 30 segments, 50,000 miles or 60 segments, and 100,000 miles or 120 segments respectively.
Once an AAdvantage member has reached Gold, the next milestone is now 40,000, where he will have a choice of 10,000 bonus miles, three 500-mile upgrade certificates, two one-day passes to the Admirals Club, free BAGS luggage delivery, or a 10% discount on aa.com. The next new milestone is at 75,000 miles, where a member will have a choice of 20,000 bonus miles, one system-wide upgrade, five 500-mile upgrade certificates, four one-day passes to the Admirals Club, or five Gogo Wi-Fi passes valid for a single segment.
Once a member has reached Executive Platinum status, there are two additional milestones he can achieve. The first is at 125,000 miles, where the choice of benefits includes 30,000 bonus miles, two system-wide upgrades, the ability to gift Gold status to a friend, a one-year Admirals Club membership, or a 20% discount on aa.com.
The last milestone is at 150,000 miles, where the choice of benefits includes 40,000 bonus miles, four system-wide upgrades, the ability to gift Platinum status to a friend, a one-year Admirals Club membership, or Global Entry membership.
All of the new rewards are cumulative. To participate in Elite Rewards, a member needs to register before the end of the year. Rewards must be selected by February 28, 2014.
