The InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile announced that its top-to-bottom renovation is drawing to a close and will be completed by the end of the month.  The $12 million project began in January of this year.  The hotel was built in 1929 as the Medinah Athletic Club.

The hotel property has been restored to its original 1929 appearance, and the main entrance, on Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue, along with the grand lobby, is being used to create a memorable arrival experience for guests. The original geometric patterns of metal grillwork that were in the lobby and port cochere are repeated throughout the hotel in draperies, lighting, and carpeting.  ,

The hotel’s 477 guestrooms and suites have been completely redone and appointed with locally sourced furniture and draperies, including grand upholstered headboards with channel stitching.  Each room will have photographs of various busy Chicago streetscapes.

In October of last year, the InterContinental announced the opening of a new kosher kitchen.
