United Airlines announced it will begin to offer passengers who do not qualify for Premier Access the option to purchase certain benefits that would come with it.   Currently, United MileagePlus credit card members, Premier-level MileagePlus members, Star Alliance Gold and Silver members, and Copa Airlines Clase Ejecutiva members as well as first- and business-class passengers automatically  have access to these benefits.

The service is intended for passengers who would like to expedite their airport experience.  Passengers who purchase Premier Access will receive access to faster check-in and security checkpoint lanes, as well as priority boarding.  However, they will not receive priority baggage handling.

United plans to limit the number of customers who may purchase Premier Access, in order to ensure that the wait on check-in and security lines does not become too long for its premium passengers credit card holders, and Premier-level frequent flyers   The service starts at $9 per segment.
