United Announces Seasonal Service From Newark to Anchorage and Traverse City

United announced it will launch seasonal service to Anchorage and Traverse City, Michigan, from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport this summer.  Service to Anchorage will use a Boeing 757 aircraft, while United Express service to Traverse City will use a 50-seat regional jet operated by ExpressJet.

Flights between Newark and Traverse City will operate on weekends, while service between Newark and Anchorage will operate only on Saturdays.  The service to Traverse City will operate this summer beginning on July 5 and ending on August 25, 2013, with service between Newark and Anchorage operating between July 6 and August 31, 2013.

Weekend service to Traverse City will begin with departures from Newark Liberty International Airport on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., with arrival times at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City at 9:50 p.m.  Flights will then depart from Traverse City at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays, and arrive in Newark at 11:05 a.m.  The service continues on Sundays with departures from Newark at 1:55 p.m. and arrivals in Traverse City at 4:15 p.m., and departures from Traverse City at 4:30 p.m. and arrivals in Newark at 6:37 p.m.

Flights from Newark to Anchorage will depart at 4:25 p.m. on Saturdays and arrive at 8:03 p.m.  The return flights to Newark will then depart at 9:00 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 7:55 a.m. the next day.  The new seasonal services will be the only nonstop flights offered between Anchorage and the New York area, as well as the only nonstop service between Newark and Traverse City.
