JetBlue Updates App, Adds Mobile Boarding Passes
JetBlue announced the addition of mobile boarding passes to its smartphone apps with the launch of version 2.0 of the JetBlue mobile app. Passengers in eight of the airline’s largest cities can now download electronic boarding passes onto their cell phones and mobile devices. The previous version of the app did not support mobile boarding passes.
Effective immediately, mobile boarding passes are available for JetBlue passengers in Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles’s Long Beach Airport, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Orlando, San Francisco, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Each digital boarding pass has an encrypted barcode with flight information that can be scanned at airport security checkpoints. At the gate, passengers can also present the barcode (along with the smartphone) for streamlined boarding.
The new version of the app provides updated city guides that show destination hotspots and weather forecasts, shows timetables to view flight schedules, provides maps to help navigate airport terminals, and allows passengers to search for and book flights using their TrueBlue points.
JetBlue said it plans to expand the app to more cities and airports throughout the year. It will also add access to the Even More Speed expedited security feature as well.
