The Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa announced that its ballrooms and meeting space will undergo a $6 million renovation in the first quarter of 2013.  The theme of the renovations will be “Land, Edge, Sea.”

The Monterey Ballroom will feature warm earthy colors, repetitive patterns, and contrasting textures, emphasizing the “Land” aspect of the renovation.  The carpet design and main feature wall will also encompass this theme, as they are inspired by the pattern of farm land furrows and the texture of Monterey’s coast line.

The more than 40,000 square feet (3,716 square meters) of meeting and event space of the Monterey Conference center will emphasize the “Edge” and “Sea” portions of the renovation.  The main facade of the ballrooms will feature organic-shape “fins,” inspired by the pectoral fin of blue whales that migrate through Monterey Bay.

The ceiling color and pattern is reminiscent of encroaching marine fog, while the carpet design is inspired by schools of fish against deep ocean blue.  As part of the renovation, other enhancements will include a 100 square foot glass projector screen, an expansion of the pre-function space, and digital signage.
