BAA, the operator of London Heathrow Airport, announced that it will designate its new Terminal 2 as the home of Star Alliance member carriers.  When the terminal opens in 2014, the 23 Star Alliance member airlines that operate at Heathrow will move in various stages from their current locations.

London Heathrow is the U.K.’s busiest airport, and the third busiest in the world in terms of traffic.

Offering integrated facilities and aligned processes, the new terminal will significantly improve passengers’ experiences when flying in and out of Heathrow.  With all Star Alliance members located in Terminal 2, the minimum connecting time between flights will be reduced to 45 minutes, which will increase the number of possible connections by 31%.

Star Alliance is the world’s first global airline alliance.  Since its founding in 1997, it has grown to include 28 member airlines, and it operates over 21,000 daily flights.
