Hyatt Regency in San Antonio, Texas Undergoes $35 Million Renovation
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas is undergoing a $35 million expansion and renovation. The project will increase the property’s indoor event space, create new outdoor event space, enhance the landscape and guestrooms, and expand the resort’s water park. The entire project is set to be completed by the fall of 2013, although some parts are expected to be completed by spring of that year.
The indoor function space of the hotel will be increased from 35,000 square feet to approximately 70,000 square feet. The additional space will include a 20,000 square foot ballroom, which can be divided into eight separate rooms.
New outdoor space that will be added includes a 7,260 square foot landscaped courtyard, which will feature a stacked limestone fireplace. There will also be a 5,000 square foot event lawn added, which will be connected to the new ballroom. The new indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces will be completed by spring 2013.
The property’s 500 guestrooms and suites will be renovated to include classic modern accommodations, while maintaining the atmosphere and essence of Central Texas. Each room will have new Hyatt Grand Bed mattresses, framed mirrors with freestanding vanities, carpeting with rustic diamond patterns, and vintage photographs with hand-tinted backgrounds.
Retaining walls will also be built in key areas of the landscape to reduce soil erosion. In addition, LED lighting will be added to the resort’s trees and public walkways.
There will also be a 22 foot-tall water slide added to the property’s water park. The hotel will also become the first in Texas and one of three in the country to have a FlowRider wave machine in its water park.
