Aeromexico Finalizes Order for Six Boeing 787 Dreamliners
Aeromexico has finalized an order with Boeing for six 787-9 Dreamliners. The order includes reconfirmation rights for four additional 787s, and is valued at over $1.46 billion. The airline has a total of 19 787 Dreamliners on order.
Aeromexico currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of aircraft. In November, Aeromexico finalized an order with Boeing for 60 737 Max 8 and Max 9 aircraft. The order, which is valued at more than $6 billion, also includes reconfirmation rights for 30 additional 737 Max aircraft.
The Dreamliner order brings the total number of Boeing aircraft on order to roughly 100.
Aeromexico is expected to take delivery of its first Dreamliner in the summer of 2013. It will become the first Mexican carrier to operate the new aircraft.
Constructed from mostly composite materials, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is Boeing’s most fuel-efficient aircraft. It consumes 20% less fuel than its closest competitors, and includes features such as improved lighting, higher pressurization for a lower perceived cabin altitude, enhanced ventilation systems, and larger windows and overhead bins.
