Photo Essay: Nor’easter Knocks Out Power, Rail Service, Cancels Flights

More than 375,000 homes in the Northeast lost power thanks to Wednesday’s snowy nor’easter and the Long Island Railroad had to curtail service.

The storm, which brought up to a foot of snow in some areas and almost nothing in other parts of the region, failed to cause major flooding despite predictions of surges, but it nonetheless dealt a setback to the region’s slow recovery from last week’s hurricane.

Over 1,700 flights were cancelled yesterday in the region but that figure was down to roughly 700 for today.
