New Ritz-Carlton Dorado Beach to Feature Chef José Andrés’ Mi Casa Restaurant
Ritz-Carlton announced that Chef José Andrés will open Mi Casa, a restaurant in Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property, when the hotel opens on December 12, 2012 in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The Spanish chef will combine classical Puerto Rican cooking with a touch of traditional Spanish influence.
Mi Casa’s menu will feature locally-caught seafood and contemporary dishes, along with small plates and featured meals that emphasize fresh ingredients, unique combinations, and original signature style. Selections will include Puerto Rican and Spanish tapas, island-style cod with hazelnuts, guava with iberico ham, and asopao de langosta, a classic soupy rice with lobster. There will also be desserts that honor the native flavors of Puerto Rico, such as Puerto Rican tembleque, and a modern take on tierritas.
The restaurant’s beverage menu will include traditional and handcrafted cocktails that focus on Puerto Rico’s history of rum. There will also be an international wine list with 200 labels, as well as a portfolio of native favorites that will include 30 varieties of rum.
The restaurant was designed Juli Capella, a Spanish architect, who sought to create an atmosphere that evokes the natural elements of water and light. The dining rooms will feature art from collections from around the world.
