LOS ANGELES – Audi has expanded its diesel line up in the U.S. with the introduction of the A6, A7 and A8 diesel sedans, as well as the mid-sized Q5 crossover for the 2014 model year.  The A8 TDI will be the first to reach the States in spring of 2013, with the rest following in the fall.

The four new models will be joining the Q7 TDI in Audi’s diesel fleet, and will be using an updated version of the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel that is also found in the Volkswagen Touareg TDI and the Porsche Cayenne Diesel. The Q7 will also get the new engine for 2013.

Audi says that the 240-horsepower A8 TDI will achieve 24 mpg (9.8l/100km) in the city and 36 mpg (6.53 l/100km) on the highway, and the large sedan will be propelled from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds.

The new diesel models will be on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and Audi will be using the #FuelForThought hashtag on social media to facilitate the conversation about the new models.
