American Airlines’ new iPad app

American Airlines has launched its first ever mobile app designed specifically for the Apple iPad.  In celebration of the new app, fans who “like” the airline’s Facebook page between November 19 and December 31, 2012, can register for a weekly chance to win 100,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles.

Features of the new app include mobile boarding passes; the ability to make seat changes and view other flight details and  a new AAdvantage section that allows users to see elite status qualification graphs that show how many miles, points, and segments are needed to achieve a specific level of elite status. Other features include an interactive globe that displays flight schedules and “Know It All,” a free trivia game that allows customers with Wi-Fi to compete against other customers on their flights, on other flights, or on the ground.  In addition, each week, the top “Know It All,” customer will receive an extra entry for the 100,000 bonus miles.

In addition to its new iPad app, American Airlines is also launching updates to its iPhone and iPod touch apps, which allow customers to locate nearby restaurants and retailers where they can earn AAdvantage miles.  The apps are available for free from the Apple App Store, and registration for the “Know It All,” promotion can be completed at
