Indonesian-based Lion Air took delivery of the 7,370th Boeing 737 to come off the production line. The aircraft is Lion Air’s 75th Next-Generation 737.

Design work for the Boeing 737 began on May 11, 1964, although the program was not given the go-ahead until November 9 of that year.  The first order for a Boeing 737 came on February 19, 1965, from Lufthansa.

The first flight of a 737-100 took place on April 9, 1967.  The fifth 737 to fly, a 737-200, did so on August 8, 1967 and the first revenue flight of a 737 was with launch customer Lufthansa on February 10, 1968.

The aircraft is the best-selling commercial jetliner of all time, with total orders exceeding 10,100, including orders for the new Boeing 737 Max.
