JetBlue has begun work on expanding Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2015.

Included in the new Terminal 5 will be an International Arrivals Hall with full U.S. Custom and Federal Inspection Services, six international arrivals gates (three new and three converted from the existing Terminal 5), two additional baggage claim belts, and circulation paths. The 150,000 square foot extension to the terminal will also feature glass walls to allow for natural lighting, low VOC (volatile organic compound) materials, low flow water fixtures, efficient HVAC systems, and recycled concrete.

JetBlue’s current Terminal 5 consists of 635,000 square feet and 26 gates. There are three concourses and a 55,000 square foot central retail and concession marketplace.
