Boeing has delivered its first South Carolina-built 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft, assembled at Boeing’s North Charleston, South Carolina facility, was delivered on October 5 to Air India, and was the company’s 28th 787 Dreamliner to be delivered to date.

Work on the Boeing South Carolina Final Assembly and Delivery Center began in November of 2009, and production of the center’s first 787 began in mid-2011. The aircraft was completed and rolled out in April of this year.

The South Carolina-built 787 is Air India’s third Dreamliner, with its first two having been delivered in September. By the end of 2013, the South Carolina factory will increase 787 assembly production to three aircraft a month.
