Marimekko for Finnair collection

Finnair and Marimekko, a Finnish design house, have launched a design partnership. Beginning in spring of 2013, all Finnair aircraft will feature the new Marimekko for Finnair collection of textiles and tableware.

The new collection will feature Marimekko’s classic patterns, and is specifically designed to add a light and fresh dimension to the onboard experience. The designs are also meant to lighten the airline’s carbon footprint.

In addition, two of Finnair’s long-haul aircraft will wear livery based on Marimekko designs. Along with an Airbus A340, which operates between Helsinki and Finnair’s Asian destinations and features a 1964 Maija Isola iconic Unikko floral print, there will be another aircraft outfitted with Marimekko designs in the spring of 2013. Finnair customers may purchase an exclusive selection of Marimekko design products during an in-flight sales special that will last for three years.
