Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced the opening of the Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel, located just outside of Washington, D.C. Formerly a Crowne Plaza, the property has undergone over $5 million in renovations, and is situated in the business and entertainment district of Silver Spring, Maryland.

Each of the hotel’s 229 refurbished rooms include an oversized work desk, ergonomic chair, high-speed Internet, LCD flat panel TV, and Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed. Mica’s Restaurant, featuring American cuisine, and the Lobby Lounge, which offers snacks and cocktails, make up the dining options, along with a Starbucks Coffeehouse that is set to open by the end of the year. Other amenities include an outdoor pool and fully equipped fitness facility featuring the brand’s new health and fitness program, Sheraton Fitness.

Located just three blocks from the Silver Spring Metro Station, which leads straight into downtown Washington, D.C., the hotel is in close proximity to the National Institute of Health, the headquarters of Discovery Communications, and the Food and Drug Administration. Also in the vicinity are the campuses of Howard University and the University of Maryland – College Park.
