Southwest Airlines has launched a promotion that allows Rapid Rewards members to earn double points on all travel nationwide through November 15, 2012.  For each dollar spent, members will now receive 12 points instead of six for the airline’s Wanna Get Away Fares, 20 points instead of ten for Anytime Fares, and 24 points instead of 12 for Business Select Fares.

In order to receive the double points, Rapid Rewards members must register for the promotion online, book their flights, and fly, all between September 13 and November 15, 2012.

AirTran Airways, Southwest’s wholly owned subsidiary, simultaneously launched a similar promotion.  AirTran Airways A+ Rewards members can now earn one bonus credit for every one-way domestic flight, and two bonus credits for every one-way international flight.  For Business Class Fares, members can receive 1.5 bonus credits for every one-way domestic flight, and three bonus credits for every one-way international flight.  Registration, booking, and travel must all be completed by members between September 13 and November 14, 2012.
