Rosewood Mayakoba Reopens Following Renovations
The Rosewood Mayakoba has reopened following a four-week, $1.6 million renovation. As part of the renovation, the 128 all-suite resort in Riviera Maya received a makeover of its dining venues, a remodeling of its gym, an additional 18 adjoining suites, and gained new on-property experiences to offer to guests.
The hotel’s Culture Concierge can arrange day-tours upon request, including snorkeling and scuba diving at The Great Maya Reef, tours of the region’s Mayan archeological sites, and an EcoTour that explores the lagoon and mangroves. Guests may also experience a couple’s massage, horseback riding, a plunge pool, and private beach dinners.
The 18 new suites sleep up to six guests each, and include high-end paintings and artwork by local artists, while the Rosebud Kids Club is open at night and offers parents a place to leave their children for a night with a biologist who provides entertainment including storytelling on the beach, astronomy lessons, and snacks including hot cocoa and cookies.
The resort’s four dining venues are also unveiling new and reinvented menus. Casa del Largo, the resort’s signature restaurant, features a Mediterranean-inspired menu, with dishes such as lobster risotto with traditional Mayan corn and tuna with avocado and mango. The Agave Azul Sushi Bar & Tequila Library offers more than 120 varieties of tequila, as well as demonstrations of tequila tasting and the distillation process. The new menu includes shitake gyozas in a soy reduction and miso butter Kobe beef. La Cava (The Cave) offers a selection of over 800 wines and includes a private dining room for two to eight people, and classic Mexican favorites and signature brick oven pizzas are offered at the beachside Punta Bonita.
The resort’s Sense spa has added new treatments, including: the Mayan Equinox Ritual, which begins with a Temazcal session, and ends with guests receiving a silver pendant; the Mayan Garden Detoxifying Ritual, during which therapists apply a body mask made of Mayan clay and herbs; and the New Moon Treatment, wherein expecting mothers receive a rose infusion bath and prenatal massage.
The Rosewood Mayakoba is located on a 1,600-acre resort enclave and fronts a mile of beach in Riviera Maya, and includes the signature Greg Norman 7,000-yard 18-hole golf course.
