American Airlines Announces Codeshare with Iberia Express

American Airlines and Iberia Express, a subsidiary of Iberia, announced a codeshare agreement.

American will place its code on flights marketed by Iberia and operated by Iberia Express between its Madrid hub and 14 other European destinations.

American AAdvantage members are entitled to both earn and redeem miles for award travel on Iberia Express flights.  Tickets for codeshare flights will go on sale September 4, for travel beginning September 10, 2012.

Iberia Express operates short- and medium-haul flights with a fleet of 14 aircraft to 12 domestic destinations including Aclicante, Seville, Granada, and Ibiza, and six European cities including Dublin, Naples, Riga, Mykonos, Edinburgh, and Amsterdam, from its hub at Madrid-Barajas.

Both American and Iberia Express are members of the oneworld alliance.
