Xiamen to Purchase 40 Boeing 737-800s

Xiamen Airlines Boeing 737-800Boeing has announced that Xiamen Airlines has agreed to purchase 40 Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft. The $3.5 billion deal is pending Chinese government approval.

Xiamen plans to use the new aircraft to launch more international routes and accommodate the growing number of travelers in Asia-Pacific and China.

The carrier currently operates an all Boeing fleet of six 757s and 77 Next-Generation 737s, with plans to grow its fleet to 200 aircraft by the end of 2020.

Xiamen Airlines is a privately owned subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, headquartered in Xiamen.
