FreshDirect Chef’s Table Customer Loyalty Program – Review
Is it possible to get elite status from your grocery store? The answer, I found out, is yes.
There’s only one tier, at least as far as I know, but getting Chef’s Table status at FreshDirect, an online grocer in the New York metro area, may very well be as desirable to some frequent flyers as attaining top-level status at a hotel or airline.
To become a Chef’s Table elite member, simply place 12 orders or spend $1500 within a three-month period. You will automatically be enrolled starting the following month.
The benefits include a dedicated phone number that reaches a special group of customer service reps, access to the most coveted delivery times, the ability to reserve a delivery time a week in advance for a one-time delivery, or hold that slot for a weekly delivery, and a promise to replace any product you’re not satisfied with within 24 hours.
There’s one additional benefit, guaranteed next-day delivery, which can really be handy. If you are placing an order and there are no delivery slots available, all it takes is one call to the Chef’s Table customer service number, and a slot will magically open up.
Before we look at how these benefits work, a look at online grocery ordering is in order.
There are many differences and all of them are, in my opinion, positives. I’m not a fan of waiting in lines (supermarkets inexplicably don’t have Fast Track or Platinum lines) and I find the “wheel your shopping cart down endless rows of things you aren’t going to buy” approach a waste of time.
Because I’m a frequent traveler, I’m not home that often and there are better things I can do with the two plus hours each week that grocery shopping entails. I can do my grocery shopping from anywhere, and there’s even an app for the iPhone (but sadly no separate iPad app). The system prominently displays items I’ve ordered in the past when I do a search, and I can also view past orders and a list of every single item I’ve ever bought.
I almost never forget things, which is something that can easily happen in a store. I also don’t buy unnecessary impulse items.
