SriLankan Airlines to Join Oneworld
SriLankan Airlines will join the oneworld alliance, following a meeting of the alliance’s board at IATA’s 2012 World Air Transport Summit.
SriLankan Airlines will be added to oneworld in late 2013. Cathay Pacific will sponsor SriLankan throughout the implementation process.
The carrier currently codeshares with Malaysia Airlines (a oneworld member designate), and has announced codeshare agreements with Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines (oneworld partners).
SriLankan operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, and has doubled in size over the past three years. Last year, SriLankan carried 3.5 million travelers between its hub in Colombo and 34 destinations.
