The writing desk, backed by the sofa, was paired with a chair that was neither wheeled nor ergonomic and khence not very conducive to working for long periods of time.   There were easily accessible 110V (U.S. standard) and 220V (European standard) outlets, a very nice and unusual touch.  A Senseo coffee machine topped the minibar.

Wi-Fi and wired Internet were expensive but worked well.  The cost is €10 for one hour or €20 for 24 hours.

Stylish meeting and event spaces, including the Konrad Adenauer ballroom, which can host up to 300 people, and eight uniquely-designed meeting rooms, with capacity for between 6 and 45 people, give abundant options for setting a variety of moods.

Within the four-level Villa Spa, I enjoyed a refreshing dip in the 50-foot (15-meter) pool, even though another guest wagged his finger officiously at me as I began to enter the area wearing tennis shoes, clearly verboten on the pristine floors.

The spa also features a gym, Jacuzzi, spa treatment rooms, a yoga and Pilates studio, and a relaxation floor complete with a refreshment bar and personal audio options.

Restaurant Gusto’s menu of modern Mediterranean fare is served in contemporary surroundings. The highlight of dinner one night was a sublime veal cheek dish, which although texturally like liver, tasted deliciously like nothing else I’d ever tried.

A big business crowd on a Monday night reaffirmed that Chef Dario Cammarata is doing something very right. For breakfast, again heavily populated with business travelers, a considerable buffet was offered, as well as a la carte items prepared to order.

The adjoining JFK’s Bar & Lounge features live music Monday to Thursday, and a DJ Friday and Saturday from September to April.

An impressive, well-placed base from which to meet and do business in Frankfurt, Villa Kennedy feels more like a castle than a hotel. I found hotel staff to be personable, professional, and accommodating, adding a pleasant degree of warmth to my stay.

Gusto restaurant is a destination unto itself, and clearly a big draw for business meetings and entertaining clients. Villa Kennedy’s many different types of meeting and event space make it popular for groups, in addition to individual travelers.
