Alaska Airlines has announced it will add new daily nonstop service between Portland International Airport and Ronald Reagan National Airport in D.C., following Department of Transportation (DOT) approval.

The airline credits the approval to the 13,000 letters sent to DOT in support of the carrier’s new route.

Tickets for the new flights will go on sale after the carrier finalizes a schedule with the FAA, and is expected to begin by September 8.

Alaska Airlines currently has three daily nonstop flights to Reagan National, two from Seattle-Tacoma and one from LAX.
