A generously-sized writing desk was located in the living room.  Internet access was wireless and free.

Bicycles are available for guests to use during their stay and a heated swimming pool is open during summer months.

The Linden Spa offers a number of relaxing treatments including its signature clay-and-flower massage. (The spa itself is named after the beautiful Linden trees that line the driveway leading to the hotel.)  There are relaxation rooms, a steam room, and yoga classes.  A small but well-equipped fitness center is in the same building as the spa.

Sitting in Sherwood’s Landing, the hotel’s dining room, the view out the window looks more like a painting than real.  Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here.  Breakfast is all about the Eastern Shore Johnny Cakes, corn meal pancakes served with warm berry compote.  Even though these looked like traditional pancakes and not Johnny Cakes as I know them, they were so good that they very well might be worth a four-hour drive from New York next time I really want good pancakes.

For dinner, crab cakes are the tour de force.  The wine list included a 2009 Berger Grüner Veltliner that was perfect for the meal.  The dessert wine list included a 2006 Kracher Trockenbeerenauslese No. 5 from the Neusiedler See area of the Burgenland in Austria, an elegant wine with wonderful minerality and the perfect end to a great meal.  (Trockenbeerenauslese, typically abbreviated as TBA, literally means dried berries selection and TBA wines are made from grapes afflicted with noble rot or botrytis.)
