The first South Carolina built Boeing 787 Dreamliner was rolled out of the factory today amid celebration. This is the first time that a Boeing commercial airplane was constructed in the Southeastern U.S.

In 2009, Boeing first announced that it would build the Dreamliner in North Charleston, SC. The facility was completed in June 2011, and production began later that month.

The Dreamliner will now go through systems and engine checks before taxi testing and its maiden flight. It will then be delivered to Air India later this year.
